Home Makeover Raffle 

Surrounded by sponsors, friends, supporters and ticket purchasers, we finally drew the lucky ticket to the Home Make Over Raffle on May 2, 2007, and are proud to announce that Sue Peppers is the winner of $25,000 to be spent on a make over for her home.  More than twenty-six years ago Sue began to develop a relationship with Easter Seals.  She was a supporter of our Telethon, as you can see in the picture, for years.  More recently Sue and her company Pepper’s TV have been a huge help in creating educational DVD’s to share with our local community and sponsors.  Easter Seals is so pleased to be able to give back to such a wonderful person.  Below you will find a letter written by Sue thanking everyone involved in this fundraiser.

Dear Easter Seals,

I am still speechless…except for repeating “OH MY GOSH!”  

Oh my gosh!   

I cannot explain to you how wonderful this is…and timely…and a blessing even!  Especially!   

            Cliff and I talked by phone (he’s out of town on business…and speechless too).  We are already dreaming.  We went to a home show this weekend…and dreamed and planned…and tried to figure out how to pay for some of the things we wish to do.  Bathrooms and decking are already in the plans…both of which are being designed to be fully accessible for our friends and family members who use wheelchairs.  I’m sure you know that our whole adult life has been devoted to making this world a better place for those who experience it differently.

Something Cliff and I have ALWAYS wanted to do is remodel our kitchen.  Having raised a son who uses a wheelchair, in a kitchen not designed for use by anyone in a wheelchair….has always been a challenge.  I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to have a NEW kitchen in which Jared will be able to participate during family gatherings.  There is only one way into the kitchen now.  If he comes in the kitchen now...his chair blocks the way for others to get around.   It’s not right that he feels “in the way”.   What an amazing answer to prayer this is, that we will be able to make our family home completely available to him.  Although Jared now lives on his own, our home will always be the gathering place for our family, as long as we are there. 

God bless you for putting on this fundraiser….first and foremost to help kids and adults through all the amazing work you do at Easter Seals.  And God bless you for sharing this joy with others.  We have received more than a home makeover.  We have received a way to make life better at our home.  How can we thank you enough!
